Membership of the befriending scheme is open to anyone that feels they may benefit from having a befriender visit them in their home.
If you are interested in joining us please print and complete our application form and return it to the Parish Council office at: The Community Centre, Hartfield Road, Forest Row, RH18 5DZ (blank forms are also available from here) or email it to us at frowfriends@gmail.com
The fee for membership is £15.00 which contributes towards the cost of training a befriender. Cheques can be made payable to Forest Row Village Support Network.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM FRow Friends
- All our Befrienders are volunteers
- All our Befrienders have been police checked, trained and been verified with a personal reference before we place them.
- All our Befrienders are offered ongoing training.
- All our volunteers are covered by a Parish Council insurance policy.
- We will meet with you first to discuss the scheme in more detail before we match you with a Befriender
- You will be introduced to your befriender by your coordinator.
- After a trial period of approximately 6 weeks we will review with you and your Befriender how the visits are progressing.
- A coordinator will keep in regular contact to discuss your befriending successes and any problems.
- We will try to resolve fairly any problems, grievances or difficulties you
may have as soon as possible
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
- To treat your Befriender with respect, kindness, politeness, and honesty.
- To let your Befriender know if you need to cancel a visit.
- To follow and work within the guidelines.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM YOUR BEFRIENDER
- To visit you on a regular basis.
- To treat you with respect, kindness, politeness, and honesty.
- To respect your right to confidentiality unless your wellbeing is at risk.
- To let you know if they cannot visit at the time arranged.
- To follow and work within the guidelines.
